Our approach

We assess foot and lower-limb concerns in Burwood, from ingrown nails to heel pain affecting walking or sport. Tell us what has become difficult and what you’d like to get back to.

Why Burwood Podiatry exists

Jonathan Ho, Principal Podiatrist

In two sentences: Jonathan started the clinic so appointments have time to listen and recommendations cover only what you need. Care is offered in five languages, with the aim of the most practical, cost-effective way to keep you moving.

I started Burwood Podiatry to practise the way I think podiatry should be done: with enough time to listen, and the freedom to recommend only what the person in front of me actually needs. We don’t set treatment targets or scripts. Standard consultations are thirty minutes; procedures may need longer. Every visit is meant to have the same unhurried approach, and if the honest answer is “you don't need anything from us”, that's what you'll hear.

Early in my own career I kept seeing the same thing: flat feet treated with orthotics and calf stretches, and people still sore months later. There had to be more to it. So we look beyond the foot — at how you walk, what you wear, what you do all day, and what's happening at the knee and hip — because easing the foot while creating a new problem further up the chain isn't a result. What we're after is the most practical, cost-effective route to getting you moving, and we judge it by whether you're moving better, not by how many visits you've had.

Burwood is a community of many languages, and between us we speak five of them. That's not just about translation — it's about being understood, feeling comfortable, and being treated with respect in the language you think in.

The other half of all this is the people who work here. My own path into podiatry wasn't an easy one, and I wanted a clinic where new graduates and experienced clinicians alike are supported, work in a safe and well-set-up space, and have systems that take the weight out of the paperwork so their attention stays on you. A team that's looked after tends to look after you well.

More than eleven years in Burwood, and seventeen in practice, that's still what we're here for: keeping the people of Burwood and the Inner West active, independent and free to do what they love — with less worry about their feet getting in the way.

This approach may suit you if you want

  • a 30-minute appointment, so there is room to explain what has changed;
  • the findings—and the uncertainties—explained clearly;
  • options discussed before treatment starts;
  • your footwear, work, activity and budget taken into account;
  • to be pointed to another service when podiatry is not the right next step.

If you would rather we simply recommend what to do and get on with it, that is a perfectly reasonable preference—say so and we will keep it brief.

What you can expect here

What does “Lower Limb Rehab” mean for you?

Whether you miss a regular walk or want to return to sport, we’ll discuss assessment, exercises and activity advice around your goals. We consider feet, footwear and movement, and explain when another clinician’s assessment is needed.

See the Treatments directory for the assessment and care options available. What is appropriate depends on the findings; a longer list of services does not mean you need more treatment.
