What should I bring to an orthotics assessment?
Bring the shoes you use most, any existing orthotics and relevant reports. You do not need to decide which device you want before your appointment.
Bring examples of your normal footwear
Bring work, walking and sports shoes, noting workplace requirements. These show where a device would need to fit.
Think about the pattern of your symptoms
Tell us where it hurts, when it started and what makes daily activity difficult. Mention changes in work, exercise or footwear; you don’t need to diagnose it yourself.
Bring previous devices and relevant information
Bring devices, not just photos, and explain your response. Include reports, health conditions and medications.
Ask about the plan before you proceed
We’ll talk through alternatives, fitting, reviews, costs and suitable shoes. Ask what to do if discomfort develops, and take time to decide.
How should I share health information?
Bring health information to your visit. Keep website enquiries general; contact the clinic to arrange any earlier transfer of clinical records.
